Belmont Back to School – Not Just for Kids
Posted by Tina Bacci on 08/21/18
As the final days of summer tick down and the school buses begin their inaugural rounds (September 5th!), here in Belmont we are gearing up for one of the best seasons in New England, and all of the familiar routines or fresh starts that September brings.
Even if you aren’t hopping on a yellow bus or heading back to campus in a few weeks, September is a great time for learning a new skill, whether it is a foreign language, a cooking class, or finally dusting off that fancy camera that’s been sitting on your shelf.
The Cambridge Center for Adult Education, located at 42 Brattle Street near Harvard Square, offers an enormous array of classes from Printmaking to Photography and Writing – even a Celebrity Chef class where you can learn from some of the best local chefs in the Boston area. Most classes are scheduled for evenings or 1-day Saturday sessions to accommodate working professionals.
Looking to hone your skills in the kitchen or master one special dish? The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, right down the street at 2020 Massachusetts Avenue, specializes in both professional and recreational cooking classes. Choose from technique (think: knife skills) or focus on regional cuisines with a deep dive into Italian, Spanish and Asian dishes just to name a few. Looking for a date night idea? You can sign up for a Couples Class or gather a group of friends for a Private Group class to learn all about wine or a cuisine of your choice.
Finally, did you know can take continuing education classes right here in Belmont as part of the town’s Community Education program? Financial Planning, Real Estate, Tax Law, Yoga or Jewelry Making suit your fancy? They are just a few of the many affordable programs offered, with classes typically taking place in the evenings at the Belmont High School. Registration opens in September and classes begin October 1st.
